Develop new skills. In order to gain new skills, additional training, education, and perhaps even returning to college to obtain a higher degree, are all necessary paths if you are looking to achieve that promotion. Take into consideration these paths, because they may not be as daunting or time-consuming as you think. In fact, many companies will even reimburse you for any expenses you incur for gaining additional education or training, sometimes even willing to pay your entire tuition should you decide to return to university for a master’s degree. Keep in mind, however, that gaining further education is not the end of the line in an employer’s decision on whether to give you the promotion or not. Although doing so will show that you as an employee are equipped to give more to the company, other factors still remain.
